Lloyd Loar Mandolins

Tony’s album “Lloyd Loar Mandolins” features solo performances on a baker’s dozen of the world’s finest mandolins, most of which were signed and dated by the legendary acoustical engineer Lloyd Loar.  14 great tracks of original and standard tunes including “All of Me”, “Cherokee”, “Ain’t Misbehavin’”, and a reprise of “Lloyd Loar Mandolin Song” first released on Williamson’s album “All For Naught”.

This album is a prime source for incredible tone and mastery of the mandolin.  All instruments on this CD are preserved in original condition except for #87367, which has been restored to period correct condition.  There are no electronic effects or EQ used in mixing, and performances are captured studio live by a pair of vintage Neumann u47 mics and delivered through Neve pre-amps to capture the tone of the instruments in a manner as true as possible to enjoying the performance in the same room as The Big Mandolin Man!
